Who We are and Why

"Students coming together to share Christ's word and our faith so we can be a model to those around us for the Glory of God." - Lutheran Students U of I

The purpose of Lutheran Campus Ministry is to assist people in academic settings to discover and fulfill their vocations in Jesus Christ. Students are the largest constituency and basic focus of the campus ministry program.

Our mission is to conduct, support, and interpret a Lutheran ministry in Higher Education. This ministry has its roots in the Christan community gathered by the spirit through the proclamation of the word of God and the celebration of the sacrements.

"Where is there a more fertile place for the explosive power of the gospel to be at work than on our campuses."
- Bishop Chilstrom

Lutheran Student Movement

LSM is the only student run Christian organization in the United States on all levels: local, regional, and national. Lutheran Campus Ministry participates in LSM activities several times a year by attending regional retreats and the annual national gathering. LSM is a great way to have fellowship with other Lutheran students throughout the country. It also provides opportunities for leadership positions at the regional and national levels.

The LSM Pacific Northwest Region is know nation wide as the "service region." For the past several years we have focused all our regional retreats on sevice to others either by helping out with Habitat for Humanity, working in soup kitchens, youth shelters, or community centers.
